Jake Paul hits out at Conor McGregor after UFC star made KO boast

Jake Paul mocked Conor McGregor's 2021 knockout at the hands of Dustin Poirier after the Irishman declared himself the "King of KOs" in a tweet this afternoon.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer was quick to get rid of his latest message mocking McGregor, but fans still spotted his tweet, in which he shared a photo of the Irishman being knocked out by Poirier in their UFC 257 rematch. Paul has had a long-standing feud with McGregor, who tends not to respond to his jibes, aside from a few exceptional circumstances.

Former two-weight UFC champion McGregor had been commenting on a clip from Dana White's controversial new Power Slap TV Show in which contestants compete in slap-fighting tournaments. He had been offering advice to competitors and declared that he was the "King of KOs", which provoked a reply from Paul.

"Yes, Dustin knocked you the f*** out and put you to sleep," Paul wrote in a a quote tweet of McGregor's message, which has also since been deleted. He had written a number of tweets, which are still live on his account, but removed a tweet where he wrote: "You talkin’ to the king of KO’s."

McGregor had his attention drawn to the slap-fighting show when a clip went viral of a fighter, Kortney Olson, ended up doing an accidental somersault after being viciously knocked out. Sheena Bathory's vicious slap knocked Olson unconscious and, as she attempted to get up, she ended up tumbling forward, with fans joking that she looked like famed Irish former footballer Robbie Keane.

Keane would celebrate goals by doing a cartwheel and a somersault during his career as a top Premier League striker, and McGregor laughed at the comparison, writing: "Stabilise the hips. Turn the shoulder. Torque the torso. KO! Where’s my belts and my cash. Yup the Keano fella hahahaha! Classic."

McGregor also gave advice to other slap-fighters, adding in a separate tweet: "If anything, power slap is showing the importance of turning back your shoulder and torquing your torso into the shot. 'Turning of the hip' potentially the wrong terminology being used. Hips less important? Possible also. Turn your shoulder back and torque fully into strike! K.O."

McGregor is plotting a comeback in the Octagon, while Paul is in camp for his next boxing-ring outing. The American will face Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia on February 25, while his Irish rival recovering from a broken leg and reckons he will start preparing for his next fight from next month.
