Jake Paul vs Hasim Rahman Jr in doubt as new demand made by Tommy Fury replacement

After replacing Tommy Fury for his fight against Jake Paul on August 6 at Madison Square Gardens, Hasim Rahman Jr is reported to have thrown the fight into some doubt after making demands about the purse for the fight.

The contract has been signed for the fight to take place as the co-headline fight alongside Amanda Serrano vs Brenda Carbajal on the fight card at the iconic venue in New York. However, the new revelations throw the whole event into some doubt after the pay issues, with The Mirror reporting that Paul is willing to scrap the whole card if his new opponent pulls out.

The son of former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman was brought in to replace Fury following his visa issues and has a record of 12-1. Paul claims that the 31-year-old is being paid more than ten times what he has previously been for his fights in the past and is demanding more than 30 times his previous pay for this fight, having previously agreed the lower figure.

"If Hasim pulls out, we just won't do the event," Paul told The MMA Hour. "I'm tired of switching opponents, there's really no other names. We'll have to reset and reschedule, it's too last minute to switch out another opponent. The tickets, it creates so many complications for refunds, it's just a f****ng nightmare and a pain in the a** at his point

"It's too late to give someone a fair amount of time to train. I want someone in there who's going to give me a challenge, if we called someone up three weeks before there could be the excuse they only had a couple of weeks to train and it wasn't a fair fight. This is the last resort, hopefully it comes through. It's crazy how the Disney channel kid is down to fight but no-one else is.".

This claim has been refuted by the American, who has tweeted his disagreement to Paul's claims, saying: "That don’t even sound right @jakepaul have y’all believing anything! I’m ready to go August 6th, money never been as issue over here. JakeFall need to tell y’all what the real problem is!!!"

Since announcing Rahman Jr as his opponent, the 25-year-old has made a succession of last-ditch attempts to bring Fury back into the fight, offering $500k to fight in the UK. This could be part of what has sparked discussions currently ongoing between Rahman Jr and Paul's team.
