Jake Paul details text message exchange with UFC legend before Tommy Fury fight

Jake Paul has been texting former opponent Tyron Woodley with the ex-UFC star claiming his upcoming Tommy Fury fight will be "easier" than their two bouts in 2020.

YouTube star Paul will touch gloves with bitter foe Fury at the third time of asking in Saudi Arabia on February 26, as he looks to pick up his seventh professional win. It will arguably be the toughest examination of Paul's time in the sport, given the British star has a natural background beyond the ropes.

Paul has already beaten some of the UFC's top strikers including former welterweight champion Woodley twice and promotion legend Anderson Silva. And the 'Problem Child' believes his experiences in the ring eclipse that of Fury who has eight wins as a professional.

"I was texting Tyron Woodley today actually," Paul said at the launch press conference for his showdown with Fury. And he was like 'man Tommy is an easier fight than me and Anderson' but that is not what the people think. What does real boxer mean? Anyone can go down the street and get a boxing licence. There is people who just do it for pay cheques.

"He has a glorified last name which has gotten him this far. He is semi good-looking and was on a reality show. But real boxer whatever that is, I have been in there with real fighters who were the best combat strikers of their generation and outboxed them so February 26 that is why it is called the truth. We will find out who the true boxer is."

Fury fought on the undercard of Paul's maiden clash with Woodley which the social media star won by split-decision. This sparked the rivalry between the pair, but the 24-year-old produced a statement response by knocking the MMA champion out cold in their December rematch.

Paul's clash with Fury could bring down the curtain on either fighter's short boxing career if they are to lose the high-pressure fight in the Middle East. But Fury has claimed he is much younger and fresher than Paul's previous opponents and believes it will hand him the highest-possible advantage.

He said: “Tyron Woodley walks around like this [hands up], no head movement, two big crater legs, and oh by the way, you throw a right hand [goes down] — so he’s gonna beat me? You’ve got Anderson Silva who took 95 percent of the rounds off, backed him up to the ropes and did nothing — the man’s 50 years old. There’s no 50-year-old man on the planet that can beat me.

"How’s that? It just won’t happen, because he’s 50! I’m 23! He literally had a fight with a 50-year-old man, not too far from my dad’s age, and at the end of the fight looked like he’d been in World War II. How does that — that does not happen if you’re a great boxer. I’m sorry, it just doesn’t. And the 50-year-old man, that was his first-ever boxing fight.”
