Jake Paul claims Floyd Mayweather is "scared" to fight star in professional bout

Jake Paul believes Floyd Mayweather is "scared" to face him in a full professional bout after struggling against his brother Logan last summer.

Mayweather gave up 35lb to allow Jake's elder sibling to fight him in an exhibition last year, but there were no judges at ringside and the bout ended without a result when they went the eight-round distance. And despite having previously claimed he would be interested in fighting the younger Paul, no bout between the two ever materialised.

For his part, Paul has insisted that the bout must be an officially sanctioned contest, with both men agreeing on a weight class and judges being able to determine a winner. The YouTuber would be putting his 5-0 professional record on the line, while Mayweather would offer up his legendary 50-0.

However, the fight would be incredibly difficult to make, with Mayweather's highest career weigh-in being 156lb, while Paul's lowest was 181lb. His coaches have claimed that he could get himself down to somewhere in the region of 175lb, which would be quite a lot heavier than Mayweather could ever make.

Paul was speaking with undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney on his new show BS with Jake Paul when the topic of all-time great athletes was brought up. He surprised fans by agreeing with Haney that Mayweather could be the greatest in any sport, saying: "Floyd, we respect you, bro.

"I took your hat, but if you ask anyone in my camp, I always talk about how awesome you are and how legendary you are. So we respect Floyd on this side of things, even though I know you're scared to fight me as a real professional bout."

Haney and Paul's co-host Julia Rose laughed at the idea of Mayweather being afraid of fighting Paul, before the topic quickly moved on. The feud between Jake and Mayweather started at a press conference to launch his exhibition with Logan, where he insulted both brothers before getting into a physical altercation with Jake over his hat being taken.

Mayweather punched Paul, causing him to bleed, after the YouTuber-turned-boxer, then just 3-0 as a professional, had taken his hat in a comical exchange. The social media stars then hired round-the-clock security after believing Mayweather's heated threat that he would "kill" the younger Paul.

At the time, he claimed that he could fight the Pauls in one night, but his promoter Leonard Ellerbe later dismissed the idea, despite believing it would be possible. Speaking to TMZ, Ellerbe said: "Realistically, he could [fight both brothers], but no - from a business standpoint, no."
