Jake Paul and Tommy Fury "quite close" to agreeing fight for third time

Frank Warren has suggested Tommy Fury's long-awaited fight with Jake Paul is "quite close" to being agreed.

Paul and Fury have a long standing rivalry in the sport, but has yet to settle scores in the ring despite signing on the dotted line on two previous occasions. Paul was set to meet Fury in December 2021 but the Briton was forced to withdraw with a broken rib, before their agreed clash last August also collapsed with Fury banned from travelling to the US.

Talks had restarted for a potential third attempt at making the bout next month, but confirmation is yet to be reached despite a lucrative seven-figure payday being promised to both fighters. In a fresh update on the progress of negotiations, Fury's promoter Warren has suggested the fight will likely be life-changing for the former Love Island contestant.

“Both sides are really eager to making it happen and I don’t think we’re far off getting it on," Warren told iFL TV when providing an update on the clash between Paul and Fury. I think we’re quite close to making it happen. “It’s a life changing money fight for him and obviously he wants it.

"It was on, then he couldn’t get into the States which was a problem. But we’ll get it on, we’re really determined to make it happen. All sides are really good on getting it over the line – we will get it over the line.”

Paul and Fury have been going back and forth on social media since their last fight collapsed, and even came face-to-face at the Briton's exhibition with Rolly Lambert in November. The pair shouted verbal barbs at each other from inside and outside of the ring, and it was expected this would set the fight up with both fighters teams present.

However according to Fury's father John, the star has threatened to move on from the clash until he is rewarded sufficiently and feels he is being undervalued in dialogue with Paul's team. And Fury Sr suggested previously that Paul is not interested in fighting his son and does not expect any progress to be made.

“You could offer him [Paul] a million dollars, he doesn’t want to fight Tommy," Fury Sr said. "He just wants to wear the Fury name out from his brand. I’ve said to Tommy, we are going to move on ‘don’t do any more tweets or anything else’. There is other big people we can talk to, they need to give Tommy what he is worth.

"Listen, I'm afraid it is going to be the fight that never happens. He is a bum in my eyes. Jake Paul, I just think he is terrified of us. They won’t pay Tommy what he is worth, he [Paul] thinks he is A-side, the Fury family are the biggest names in boxing. He is a YouTuber, he has made his money from other avenues."
