Jake Paul has revealed he "got in trouble" after speaking in too much detail about a potential MMA move.
Paul, 25, is undefeated in five professional boxing fights but has expressed interest in crossing over to the cage. 'The Problem Child' looks for his sixth win inside the ring against UFC legend Anderson Silva on October 29 and has also seemingly agreed to fight Love Island star Tommy Fury in February after the Brit pulled out of their two previous bookings.
Having previously outlined his goal to go 10-0 in boxing before fighting in the cage, Paul recently teased an announcement with a "big organisation" for his MMA debut. Whoever the organisation was clearly caught wind of Paul's comments, as he told MMAJunkie: "I sort of got in trouble for talking too soon. I just got excited. We'll just see what happens."

The comments that seemingly got Paul in trouble were made on his podcast BS w/Jake Paul, as he said: “I’ve got an announcement coming soon, I can just tease that. I’m working with a big organisation right now on a whole thing in MMA that also has to do with me fighting and we’re going to have an announcement soon. I want to do it, and Javier Mendez said he would train me. I probably need a year and a half to get the kicks down. I already know jiu-jitsu. I want to be able to do everything in there."
Two major organisations have already welcomed Paul to fight for them, as PFL boss Peter Murray admitted he would entertain talks with him whilst Bellator president Scott Coker stated he would " gladly " have Paul fight for his promotion. Paul and his brother Logan were both talented wrestlers in their youth, but Logan was the more accomplished as he qualified for Division I in college.
American Kickboxing Academy coach Mendez has trained UFC legends such as Khabib Nurmagomedov and Cain Velasquez during his career, but he insisted Paul would have to go through a recruitment process before training at his gym. The trainer thanked Paul for his shout out and said he would return the favour by coaching him, as long as the other fighters at the gym agree with the decision.
"It could happen but like anybody you know we have to go through all the coaches and all the fighters that are here and anybody that's a famous athlete like him," Mendez told The Schmo. "They will go through the routine that everybody does so he would have to get voted by everybody. First of all, he's never asked. What he's done is he's marketed himself beautifully."
