Jake Humphrey responds to 'dropped' claims after major BT Sport decision before Liverpool game

Jake Humphrey has responded to claims that he has been 'dropped' as the host of BT Sport's Premier League coverage in a shake-up by the broadcaster.

Fellow BT sport presenter Lynsey Hipgrave announced yesterday that she was taking over as the host of their Premier League coverage, starting this weekend when Liverpool take on Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Hipgrave has previously worked for BT covering the Europa League and Ligue 1 but will now inherit the reins when it comes to top-flight domestic football coverage. "I couldn’t be any prouder to be leading @btsport’s Premier League coverage this season. We KO with Fulham v Liverpool on Saturday at 11.30am BT Sport 1."

Humphrey intially replied to Hipgrave’s tweet, saying : "You're going to be amazing Lynsey. So delighted for you. Please just let me back for the odd game."

However, the announcement led to many supporters on social media claiming that Humphrey had been 'dropped' by the broadcaster. But responding to a tweet on Twitter, the former Blue Peter presenter claimed that he had not been axed - and instead told BT Sport that he could not commit to the position like he once could.

He wrote: “Ignore the misleading nonsense headlines. I spoke to BT about being too busy and we agreed I'd host less PL games.

“I'll still host some, but one of my favourite people Lynsey Hipgrave gets to lead the coverage and I couldn't be happier for her.”
