Jake Bugg kicks off first UK tour in years at Newcastle's o2 City Hall

Jake Bugg kicked off the start of his 17-venue UK tour at Newcastle's o2 City Hall last night in a highly-anticipated show that certainly did not disappoint.

Fans were delighted to see the Nottingham-born star make his return to the stage since his last tour, which was due to kick off in March 2020, was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The singer-songwriter got the crowd going and opened the night with 'About Last Night', one of the lead tracks from his latest album.

The 'Be Someone' singer performed a mixture of his old and new songs including the hits from his latest album 'Saturday Night, Sunday Morning' which he dropped last year.

It was great to see the star performing for a live audience again after a brief hiatus. It was also obvious to see that Bugg appreciated singing to crowds again, especially one as lively as a Geordie gig.

Jake Bugg fans, who turned up in droves last night, serenaded the 'star to chants of 'Jakey Jakey Bugg' as well as the occasional spot of crowd-surfing.

Some of the best moments from the night included the banger 'Two Fingers', 'Lost' and 'All I Need' which the Newcastle crowd responded to with gusto.

Bugg was supported by the North East's very own Luke Royalty who hails from Darlington as well as Vistas, a Scottish band from Edinburgh.

The singer-songwriter had the Ukrainian flag on his drum kit. Prior to the show, the stage was also lit up blue and yellow in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

Bugg ended the night with some of his biggest hits. 'Lightning Bolt' certainly got a huge reaction from the crowd who sang along to the smash hit which was released back in 2012 but is still going strong.

The singer thanked the audience for the continued support for his music and acknowledged his fans' love and support for being able to do what he does ten years down the line.
