JAIPUR: In the incident of two children being tied up by the parents in Jaipur’s Murlipura, the role of the neighbour has also come under scrutiny and the state child commission has asked the local police to conduct an investigation looking into the involvement of all the parties.
According to the statements of the parents to the child panel, they had tied up one of the children so that he does not leave home as previously the 10-year-old boy had gone missing for few hours. The parents alleged that they were not harming the boy but only trying to keep him safe whereas their neighbour, in their absence tied up two of the children following which he clicked photographs that he circulated to media.
He also apparently slapped the children’s father. While the parents work as daily wage labourers, the neighbour works in a shoe store. Sangeeta Beniwal, chairperson, Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said, “After meeting the parents we got to know that the couple has four children aged between 5 to 10 years. Few days back, the oldest child ventured out of house alone and reached quite far. The parents said that they were worried that he might repeat the same due to which they tied his foot loosely with a rope to keep him safe when they went to work.”
