JAIPUR: The special investigation unit (SIU) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a lower division clerk (LDC) posted at the Rajasthan Nursing Council (RNC) for accepting a bribe of Rs 1.90 lakh.
ACB has also arrested a private person who had come to pay the bribe, which was demanded and accepted in lieu of increasing the number of seats in nursing colleges whenever needed and also let them work smoothly without any inspection. The ACB team also seized nearly Rs 16.4 lakh from the residence of the arrested LDC.
BL Soni, Director General, ACB said, “It was found that these employees were also allowing the nursing colleges to increase the seats as per their convenience. They even promised not to inspect their colleges often and allow them to run their colleges with on-going irregularities. Thus, our team after collecting the inputs raided the RNC on Tuesday.”
“We have arrested one Nand Kishor Sharma , the LDC at the nursing college with bribe money of Rs 1.90 lakh and have also arrested a person identified as Bansilal Gurjar who had given this bribe,” Soni added.
Senior police officers added that it will also be probed as to how an LDC level employee of the RNC was so confidently facilitating the nursing colleges.
After the arrests, a team of ACB conducted searches at the premises of Bansidhar Sharma. “We have so far found Rs 16.4 lakh cash and property papers. Searches are still on and the amount of cash might go up,” Soni added.
A case under appropriate sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been lodged against the accused. Further investigations in the case were underway.
