Jaipur: Burglars escape with cash, gold worth Rs 18 lakh from Ramganj house

JAIPUR: Thieves broke into a house in Ramganj and decamped with cash and gold worth Rs 18 lakh.

The complaint was filed by one Hanif, who alleged that he had gone to attend a wedding in Agra on Monday with his family. On Tuesday, he received a call from his salesman that the gates of the house were open.

“The salesman asked Hanif if he had returned from Agra. To this Hanif replied that he was still with his family attending wedding functions. He asked the salesman to check if someone had broken into the house,” said an official.

The salesman told Hanif that his house was ransacked and thieves had allegedly rifled through the entire house.

He reached Jaipur shortly before midnight on Tuesday and informed police control room. As per the complainant, the accused fled with cash from his family members that were kept in the same house, along with some gold ornaments.

ACP (Ramganj) Sunil Prasad Sharma said investigation into the case was underway. “The complainant works in the garment business and had gone to attend a wedding when thieves struck sometime after Monday midnight,” said an official.

He added, “We suspect that a long planning had preceded the theft, the accused knew where the family had kept their cash and gold,” an official said. Police also said they were scanning the CCTV footage of Ramganj and its nearby localities to zero in on the accused.
