According to Grayslake Hainesville Police Chief Jeff Myhra, the van was carrying sixteen prisoners en route to the McHenry County Jail at the time of the accident. The collision occurred around 1 p.m. when the second vehicle attempted a left turn in front of the van, leading to the subsequent impact with a pole.
Two individuals were reported to be in serious condition following the crash, although the exact number of prisoners injured has not been disclosed. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene to provide necessary aid and transport the injured to medical facilities for treatment.
