Guy Sebastian's former manager Titus Day has avoided jail, for now, as he awaits to be sentenced for embezzling more than $600,000 from the singer.
Day had his bail continued during a brief court hearing in Sydney this morning, however Judge Tim Gartelmann SC said that "does not mean the accused will not be sentenced to full-time imprisonment nor does it mean it is unlikely".
The 49-year-old will be sentenced on September 16.
A jury yesterday found Day guilty of 34 charges, but acquitted him on 13 others, after a two-month trial plagued by disruptions.
Sebastian had claimed he was owed more than $900,000.
Speaking at a charity event in Wagga Wagga this morning, the singer said the verdict had been "a lot to absorb".
"Its been quite a few years of getting through this and obviously I couldn't have hoped for better timing with this, I can't believe how its all panned out," Sebastian told Channel 7.
Sebastian is in the Riverina to begin a 500-kilometre walk to raise money for his youth mental health charity, The Sebastian Foundation, alongside friend Tim Freeburn.
"It feels nice to be with my best mate and to be doing something that means a lot to us and is close to our hearts, it's almost perfect timing," he said.
Day must surrender his passport and report to Waverley Police Station once a week.
He had been the pop star's manager for more than a decade until the pair fell out in 2017.
Soon after, Sebastian claimed he noticed anomalies in his financial records.
Prosecutors today told the court that Day should be imprisoned for his crimes.
