Jaguars WR Zay Jones arrested on domestic battery charge

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones was arrested Monday on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Booking information from JSO shows that Jones was booked at 6:03 p.m. and is set to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

“We are aware of the situation and are in the midst of gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time,” the Jaguars said in a statement, via the Florida Times-Union.

Jones, 28, signed a three-year contract with the Jaguars during the 2022 offseason and was the second-leading receiver in his first season with the team. This season, he’s played in just three games because of a knee injury suffered in Week 2 and aggravated in Week 5.

Earlier Monday and hours prior to the arrest, Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said the team was optimistic that Jones would be healthy enough to play “either this week or next.”

In March 2018, Jones was arrested in Los Angeles on suspicion of felony vandalism after a bizarre night where his brother prevented him from jumping out of a 30th-floor window. Earlier this year, he reflected on the incident and told reporter Tyler Dunne, “I never wanted to completely know what was in my system.”

Jones previously played for the Buffalo Bills and Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders before joining the Jaguars.
