Jaguars WR Calvin Ridley will wear newly allowed No. 0 jersey

The NFL made a rule change Tuesday that will allow players to wear No. 0 jerseys for the first time in league history. Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley wasted no time jumping on the opportunity.

Less than an hour after the rule change was made final, the Jaguars announced their new wide receiver will be in a No. 0 jersey in 2023.

Ridley was acquired by the Jaguars in a trade with the Atlanta Falcons during the 2022 season, but was unavailable due to a suspension. Earlier in March, Ridley was fully reinstated, clearing the way for him to make his Jaguars debut in the fall.

Per the rule change, any player with the exception of offensive and defensive linemen are now allowed to wear the No. 0 jersey.

Ridley, 28, was a first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft and is set to play the 2023 season on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. In four seasons with the Falcons, Ridley caught 248 passes for 3,342 yards with 28 touchdowns.
