The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to sign veteran defensive tackle Ross Blacklock to the practice squad, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Blacklock, 25, was picked in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, but was traded to the Minnesota Vikings prior to the 2022 season after recording only two sacks and three tackles for loss in two years with Houston. He didn’t fare much better in Minnesota, recording only one sack and two tackles for loss last season.
Buy Jaguars TicketsWhile he recorded three pressures and a sack this preseason with the Vikings, Blacklock was waived by the team last week.
The Jaguars already filled out their practice squad with 17 players, so the addition of Blacklock meant the team had to release defensive tackle Tommy Togiai to make room.
Prior to getting drafted by the Texans, Blacklock was a First Team All-Big-12 selection after recording nine tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks with the TCU Horned Frogs during the 2019 season.
