Liam Coen and the Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t just targeting Los Angeles Rams coaches for their staff. They’re also looking at front office members in their search for a general manager.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Tuesday that the Jaguars have requested to interview Rams director of scouting strategy James Gladstone for their general manager position. Gladstone is a key member of the front office, working closely with Les Snead throughout the pre-draft process.
Gladstone was the one in the draft room who told Sean McVay and Snead that the Rams landed four of the top 50 players on their board when they selected Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Blake Corum and Kamren Kinchens.

Gladstone just finished his eighth season with the Rams, his fourth as the director of scouting strategy. Here’s his job description, according to the team’s site.
In his role, he works directly with General Manager Les Snead in strategic planning and execution of day-to-day scouting processes. Additionally, he is responsible for scouting current and prospective players and providing frequent analysis on special projects.
The Rams were probably excited to see Coen get a chance to become a head coach with the Jaguars but they may not have foreseen how insistent he would be on poaching members of his former team.
