Earlier this year, ESPN had a similarly kid-focused broadcast of an NHL game between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals. Players in that game were animated into the world of the Disney Channel show “Big City Greens.”
According to an ESPN press release, characters such as Woody and Buzz Lightyear will all make appearances and players from the Jaguars and Falcons will contribute to the broadcast with pre-recorded segments and interviews.
The announcers for the alternate broadcast will be Drew Carter, Booger McFarland, and 12-year-old Pepper Parsley.
If you’d rather watch the usual ESPN broadcast, that’ll be available on your cable network along with ESPN+. Kickoff of that Oct. 1 game is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET.
