The Jacksonville Jaguars are woefully thin in the middle of their defensive line, but may have a solution in veteran tackle Corey Peters.
According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, Peters visited with the Jaguars ahead of the team’s regular season opener against the Washington Commanders.
Peters, 34, spent the first five seasons of his NFL career with the Atlanta Falcons after he was picked in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. In 2015, he joined the Arizona Cardinals where he played until reaching free agency earlier this year.
In Jacksonville, Peters would be reunited with first-year defensive line coach Brentson Buckner, who spent the last two seasons as the Cardinals’ defensive line coach.
Peters was listed last season at 6’3, 335 pounds and would add serious beef to the Jaguars line. Starting nose tackle DaVon Hamilton is listed by the Jaguars as 6’4, 320 pounds, making him the heaviest player on the team’s defense. Hamilton is currently the only nose tackle on the team’s depth chart.
