Lawrence, 23, was twisted down on a sack and stayed down on the field as time ran out in the second quarter. After an extended period, Lawrence was able to stand and walk off the field on his own.

After halftime, Lawrence exited the tunnel and jogged back to the sideline where he warmed up and continued playing in the second half.

While the Jaguars went to halftime trailing 23-6 against the Lions, Lawrence was playing well early with 124 passing yards on nine completions. On his first drive back in the game, Lawrence led the Jaguars down the field for their only touchdown of the day.

Lawrence struggled in the month of October, but has been playing the best football of his career in the last few weeks. In three games in November, Lawrence threw six touchdown passes with zero interceptions, and completed 76.9 percent of his passes. On Sunday, he added another touchdown without throwing an interception.

Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard is the Jaguars’ backup quarterback. He started 12 games in four years with the 49ers, but has only thrown two passes in his two seasons with the Jaguars. Beathard warmed up in the second half, but didn’t play until the final minutes of the blowout loss.
