A week before the Jacksonville Jaguars kick off their 2022 redemption campaign, the team took to social media to show its players excited about the college football season. Across the NFL’s 32 teams nearly every rostered player got their career started at the collegiate level, whether playing football or basketball. They will all be tuned in for the first games of their former school’s seasons this week.
Here are the Jaguars who will be glued to their couch this weekend as their alma maters take on their first challenges of the year:
Devin Lloyd - University of Utah
Lloyd’s time in Utah reached near-legendary status ahead of his selection as a first-round pick in the 2022 draft. He helped lead the Utes to a 10-4 record last season, and his exceptional play kept the team undefeated at home. In the video posted to Twitter, Lloyd predicted a win for Utah’s first game of the season over the Florida Gators.

Jawaan Taylor - University of Florida
Taylor is sure to be a little standoffish to the rookie Lloyd if his team doesn’t pull out a win this week, as he too predicted victory for his alma mater. Gainesville will be rocking for the Saturday evening kickoff, and if everything goes to plan for Taylor, he should start next week with an extra pep in his step if his Gators pull out a big win.

Andre Cisco - University of Syracuse
Syracuse is a unique place in the FBS with a team that can be very inconsistent year to year. They finished their 2021 campaign with a 5-7 record but took several losses to ranked teams, including a nailbiter to 14th ranked Clemson where they fell just three points short of victory. Cisco took the opportunity to talk about his school by pointing out that he played exceptionally well in the team’s Carrier Dome, one of college football’s most eccentric venues.

Chad Muma - University of Wyoming
The Mountain West Conference hosts some of the most electric talents in collegiate sports, and Muma is a prime example of how lesser-known players can rise to stardom at a smaller program. He led the Cowboys, also affectionately known as the Pokes, to a 7-6 record in 2021 and a win in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl over Kent State. Muma reminisced about making his first big defensive plays as a member of the program and expressed his loyalty with a hearty “go pokes.”
