Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk may be done for the year after landing on the injured reserve Friday with a core muscle injury.
On Tuesday, Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said the veteran receiver is expected to need surgery to repair the issue. That kind of procedure reportedly comes with a 6-8 week recovery, which would push Kirk’s potential return date into the postseason.
Kirk, 28, led the Jaguars in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdown receptions last season after signing with the team in free agency. With five weeks left in the 2023 season, he leads the team in receiving yards again with 787.
With Kirk out of action, a Jaguars wide receiving corps that was already without Jamal Agnew will have its depth tested. The team entered the season with seven wide receivers on the 53-man roster and are now left with Calvin Ridley, Zay Jones, Tim Jones, Parker Washington, and Elijah Cooks. Jacksonville also has Jacob Harris and Seth Williams on the practice squad.
