The Jaguars opened the 21-day injured reserve practice window for rookie running back Keilan Robinson on Wednesday.
Robinson was placed on the injured reserve during Jacksonville’s preseason roster cuts, alongside safety Andrew Wingard, making both players designated to return during the season. Wingard’s practice window opened last week, although he has not yet been activated from the reserve.
Jacksonville selected Robinson with its No. 167 overall pick in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL draft, eyeing running back depth and a potential return game weapon amid the NFL’s transition to the “dynamic” kickoff.
Over four seasons of college playing time, his first with Alabama and final three with Texas, Robinson rushed 116 times for 796 yards and eight touchdowns, caught 35 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns, averaged 23.5 yards per kickoff return and scored two special teams touchdowns.
Jacksonville placed wide receiver and starting kickoff and punt returner Devin Duvernay on the injured reserve Oct. 9, sidelining him through at least Week 9.
Wide receiver Parker Washington has filled in for Duvernay on special teams, memorably returning a punt 96 yards for a touchdown against the New England Patriots in Week 7. Robinson could split those responsibilities with Washington if he returns to action before the starter.
