Jaguars’ Jamal Agnew on struggles in rain: ‘They’re playing in the same conditions’

The rainy, windy conditions that Hurricane Ian brought to Philadelphia didn’t do much to stop the Eagles offense from imposing its will. It wasn’t the same story for the Jacksonville Jaguars, though.

The visiting Jaguars had six drops, turned the ball over five times, and failed the adjust to the conditions.

“It was definitely tough,” Jaguars receiver Jamal Agnew said after the game. “Rain is actually a big deal, but you know, when it’s windy like that, too. But you can’t control the weather though. We’ve just got to go out there and handle what we’re dealt. They’re playing in the same conditions too, so it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. Like I said, we just hurt ourselves too much today.”

Agnew, 27, wasn’t one of the Jaguars who struggled much with the wet conditions. He had two touchdown receptions and almost scored another touchdown, but was overthrown by Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

“Credits to [the Eagles], they’re a great team but we’re also a great team,” Agnew said. “But you can’t win if you keep beating yourself. We’ve just got to get back to the drawing board. We’re a close-knit group so we’re going to clean it up.”

Agnew only had one career receiving touchdown in his first five NFL seasons prior to 2022.
