Jaguars head coaching update: Aaron Glenn meeting in-person with 2 teams

As the Jacksonville Jaguars search for their next head coach continues, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has provided an update on what’s next for Lions’ defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

According to Rapoport on Monday morning, Glenn will be visiting the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints for a second round of interviews.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler would add that Glenn is a “prime” candidate for the Jets opening.

As of Monday, January 20th, coaching candidates whose current teams are eliminated from playoff contention can take in-person interviews moving forward.

Recently, Rapoport did mention that Glenn was among a few candidates “very high up” in the coaching search for the Jaguars, but if the current news holds, and Glenn doesn’t take any other interviews, it would appear that he will land with either the Jets or Saints.

When it comes to the Jaguars, the team has shown “strong interest” in Lions’ offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, reported Dianna Russini, who has also interviewed with Las Vegas and Chicago.

Another name to watch is Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who reportedly was “outstanding” in his interview with the team.

Perhaps a darkhorse candidate for the Jaguars is former Jets’ head coach Robert Saleh, a name that SI’s Albert Breer mentioned in his most recent edition of the Monday Morning Quarterback.
