It’s been five days since the Jacksonville Jaguars fired head coach Doug Pederson and began their search to fill that role.
So at this early stage of the process, what do we know right now?
The Jaguars have requested to interview 10 different coaches for their current opening. Here is who is on that list:
Kellen Moore (Eagles offensive coordinator)
Todd Monken (Ravens offensive coordinator)
Joe Brady (Bills offensive coordinator)
Liam Coen (Buccaneers offensive coordinator)
Ben Johnson (Lions offensive coordinator)
Aaron Glenn (Lions defensive coordinator)
Patrick Graham (Raiders defensive coordinator)
Robert Saleh (Former Jets head coach)
Brian Flores (Vikings defensive coordinator)
Steve Spagnuolo (Chiefs defensive coordinator)
Of those 10, four so far have either completed an interview or have an interview with the team scheduled.
The Jaguars announced on Friday night that they had an interview completed with Steve Spagnuolo.
Both Lions’ coordinators, Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson, are scheduled to interview on Saturday, and Robert Saleh this upcoming Tuesday.
When it comes to Glenn, one NFL insider is hearing from a source that there may end up being two teams in particular–not the Jaguars–who end up “battling it out” for him as their head coach.
With Johnson, another NFL insider recently spoke about how he may view the general manager position with the Jaguars.
Lastly, with Saleh, if he doesn’t want to dive right back into a head coaching role, teams he is interviewing with will be competing with the San Francisco 49ers, who would like to have him back as their defensive coordinator. That is where Saleh coach and the title he held before getting the Jets job.
