In a recent 2025 NFL mock draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars chose to address the receiver position with the fifth overall selection.
Josh Edwards of CBS Sports had the Jaguars selecting Arizona wide receiver Tetairao McMillan in his most recent mock draft.
By selecting McMillan in this scenario, the Jaguars also passed on defensive tackle Mason Graham and cornerback Will Johnson–two popular picks for the Jaguars in mock drafts–along with bypassing the top offensive tackle in the draft as well.
A big-bodied receiver at 6-5 – 212 pounds, McMillan has had back-to-back big seasons, totaling 1,316 receiving yards in 2024 and 1,396 yards in 2023.
During that span, he’s also hauled in 18 touchdowns and been a big play threat, averaging 15.6 yards per catch, while being a reliable target and hauling in 67% of his passes.
“Head coach Liam Coen gets his version of Mike Evans in Jacksonville,” wrote Edwards. “The Jaguars offense will be well-positioned to bounce back in 2025 with Brian Thomas Jr. and McMillan on the receiving end of Trevor Lawrence’s passes.”
A top priority for new Jaguars’ head coach Liam Coen is to get Trevor Lawrence and the passing game back on track.
Certainly adding another presence at wide receiver to pair with Brian Thomas Jr. and Christian Kirk would help. However, another avenue to help facilitate that rebound is through building out the offensive line, which does need to improve, as Coen said.
Improved play in the trenches will obviously provide Lawrence with time in the pocket but it will also give the Jaguars more of a run game to lean on and that can make an offense less predictable and open up opportunities in the passing game.
