The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that they have completed an interview with Patrick Graham for their head coaching vacancy.
Graham has held the title of defensive coordinator with the Las Vegas Raiders since the 2022 season. Under Graham, the Raiders’ defense would rank 26th in scoring in 2022 and 25th in scoring this season. They did, however, rank seventh in that category in 2023.
Under Graham, the Raiders’ defenses have been fairly aggressive, ranking top-12 in the NFL in blitz rate in two of the last three seasons.
Before joining the Raiders as their defensive coordinator, Graham was the New York Giants assistant head coach and defensive coordinator in 2020-2021 and the Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator in 2019.
After coaching at the college level for a number of years, Graham got his first NFL coaching job with the New England Patriots back in 2009. As a position coach, he’s worked both with linebackers and the defensive line.
Graham is one of 10 coaches that the Jaguars have requested to interview for their head coaching role. So far, Graham, along with Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, and Steve Spagnuolo have had their interviews, while Robert Saleh is scheduled for Tuesday.
Recently, when speaking with the media, quarterback Trevor Lawrence highlighted what he is looking for in a new head coach, and it goes beyond whether they are an offensive and defensive play caller.
“Just as far as a leader, you want the right guy that’s going to be the right leader and voice for your team and set that culture,” Lawrence said.
