Jaguars 2023 roster review: OLB Travon Walker

The Jacksonville Jaguars chose athleticism and raw talent at the top of the 2022 NFL draft when they picked Travon Walker. While there were expectations that it’d take the former Georgia pass rusher some time to develop into an NFL star, it seemed he was well ahead of schedule when he made his Week 1 debut.

But after recording an interception and a sack in his first game, Walker was relatively quiet as a rookie. He finished the year with 3.5 sacks and made a couple errors that proved costly for the Jaguars.

After a year of development, Jacksonville is hopeful that 2023 will be a more productive season for the former No. 1 overall pick. The Jaguars did very little to upgrade their anemic pass rush, but a significant step forward from Walker would go a long way toward turning the team’s young defense into a formidable unit.

Contract (2023): $870,000 base salary, $6,090,022 prorated signing bonus, $1,553,756 roster bonus, $8,513,778 salary cap hit.

Acquired: Jaguars drafted Walker with the No. 1 overall pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft.
