CUSTOMERS are being offered more choice and technology by Jaguar Land Rover.
There are new models for both the Jaguar F-PACE and Range Rover Velar family SUVs, and the line-ups are getting Amazon Alexa voice control.
The new F-PACE SPORT models are marked out by 21in five-spoke gloss black wheels, further black detailing around the car, including gloss roof rails, and privacy glass.
Among exterior options for the premium British marque’s newcomers are 22in rims in either gloss black with satin black inserts or gloss silver with contrasting inserts.
Interior highlights include 16-way adjustable heated/cooled electric memory seats, an ebony suedecloth headliner, satin charcoal ash veneers and a fixed panoramic roof.
The 400 SPORT is powered by the firm’s 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol mild-hybrid engine, developing 400PS and 550Nm of torque. It dashes to 60mph in just 5.1 seconds and redlines at 155mph.
The 300 SPORT features the Ingenium 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel mild-hybrid unit, with 300PS and 650Nm of torque. It hits 60mph in 6.1 seconds and tops out at 143mph.
In common with all other F-PACE variants, they have intelligent all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmissions.
Jaguar exterior design boss Adam Hatton said: “Developing the SPORT models gave us the opportunity to deliver an even more confident on-road presence, while beautiful, rich materials make the interiors even more luxurious.
“Together with the quiet, effortless performance from the six-cylinder engines, the new variants will make every journey extraordinary.”
The 300 SPORT costs from £62,250 and the 400 SPORT from £68,520 on the road.
Meanwhile, Amazon Alexa is now available across the F-PACE range and provides intuitive voice interaction with Jaguar’s Pivi Pro infotainment system’s features – including navigation, music, podcasts, audiobooks, calls and compatible smart devices.
Requests such as “Alexa, navigate me home”, “Alexa, play my chill-out playlist” and “Alexa, show me nearby coffee shops” can all be made by voice. You can also check news, weather and manage your schedule or shopping list.
Moreover, if you have an Alexa-compatible smart home, you can even ensure your living room will be at the right temperature when you get in – just by asking.
Jaguar Land Rover electronics chief Alex Heslop said: “The seamless integration of Amazon Alexa makes the driving experience even more enjoyable.
“The fact we can also offer this new feature to existing customers proves the value of our software-over-the-air-updates.”
Land Rover has added an HST model to the Range Rover Velar family to bring a new dimension of sporting luxury to the line-up.
Exterior features include a black contrast roof, plenty of black detailing, privacy glass and unique gloss black 21in five-split-spoke alloy wheels.
The dynamic theme continues inside, with black suedecloth headlining and steering wheel and a sliding panoramic roof.
The HST features Electronic Air Suspension with Adaptive Dynamics for optimum comfort and handling, while Configurable Dynamics allow motorists to tailor the driving experience to suit their preferences.
In keeping with its dynamic personality, the HST is available with the same choice of engines as featured in the new Jaguar F-PACE SPORT models.
Land Rover brand director Finbar McFall said: “The HST offers a combination of design enhancements and chassis features to add to the Velar’s breadth of capability, without compromising its trademark refinement and comfort.”
The Velar Edition has also been reintroduced to the range with either 249HP 2.0-litre petrol or 204HP 2.0-litre diesel engines.
Based on the R-Dynamic SE, it also features a black contrast roof, Black Pack detailing, privacy glass and a sliding panoramic roof, along with 20in gloss black alloys.
Amazon Alexa is now also available on the Range Rover Velar when fitted with the advanced Pivi Pro infotainment system and the Online Pack.
