In Monday’s press conference with the media, Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Pederson revealed that 2021 first-round selection Travis Etienne is cleared for practice activities after sustaining a Lisfranc injury last preseason. As a result, the second-year player is now good to go as the Jags are currently in Phase 2 of organized team activities.
Etienne is now nine months removed from the injury, which occurred in the Jags’ preseason game against the New Orleans Saints on Aug. 24. He had the operation to repair the injury 10 days later.
Etienne is a player who fans were hoping could add speed and play-making ability to the offense last season after he broke the record for rushing yards (4,952) by an Atlantic Coast Conference player. Unfortunately, his regular-season debut got pushed back, so it’s like the Jags technically will have three new first-rounders taking the field for them this regular season.
Many fans were aware that Etienne was doing well in his recovery process due to seeing him on the field in most of the Jags’ OTA videos. He’s continued to progress it seems, and on Monday, a new video of him surfaced where he was catching passes from Trevor Lawrence while lining up wide. He seems to be moving pretty well, which should only make fans more eager to see him take the field come Week 1.
