Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek break Man United silence following Nemanja Matic announcement

Jadon Sancho has shared a glowing one-word verdict on departing Manchester United teammate Nemanja Matic after the Serbian confirmed that he will leave Old Trafford at the end of this season. Matic announced the news on social media after five years with the Old Trafford giants.

Already set to prioritise central midfield signings when the transfer window reopens, Matic has given United more cause to strengthen. Set to lose Paul Pogba on a free for the second time, the shock update is almost certainly set to have an impact on recruitment plans.

Addressing his 2m followers on Instagram, the Serbian posted: "After a great deal of thought, I have decided this season will be my last with Manchester United. I have informed the board, the manager and the players of my decision. It has been a huge honour and a privilege to play for this great club.

"A big thank you to the fans for their unwavering support. I will now give everything until the end of the season to help my teammates finish as strongly as possible."

Attracting thousands of likes and comments from United supporters, Sancho was among the first to reach out to Matic by summing up his thoughts on the Serbian in one word. Posting a reply to Matic with a high-five emoji, the England international said: "Legend."

It was followed up by a similar comment from Donny van de Beek. Currently on loan with Everton, the midfielder posted love heart and prayer emojis. He added: "Legend my brate."

Matic signed for United from Chelsea in 2017 and has gone on to make 183 appearances for the Old Trafford giants. He started against Everton last weekend and looks set to keep hold of his place in the engine room on Saturday.

United are set to take on Norwich at 3pm. However, they do so without injured holding midfielders Fred (hip) and Scott McTominay (foot). They are among five absentees.
