After actor Will Smith writing his memoir, news is that his wife and actress Jada Pinkett Smith is all set to tell her story in her own words in an autobiography. The “honest and gripping” memoir is untitled at the moment, and it is expected to be published in autumn 2023.
Jada Pinkett Smith's upcoming memoir's UK and Commonwealth rights have been acquired by PR and publishing director Michelle Kane. Meanwhile, HarperCollins US vice-president and editorial director Carrie Thornton has brokered the deal with Creative Artists Agency for publishing it in the US, reported The Bookseller.
Talking about the development, Fourth Estate said in a statement, as per The Bookseller, “In her honest and gripping memoir, as yet untitled, the iconic actress and host of the innovative talk-show ‘Red Table Talk’, Jada Pinkett Smith chronicles lessons learned in the course of a difficult but riveting journey – a rollercoaster ride from the depths of suicidal depression to the heights of personal rediscovery and the celebration of authentic feminine power. With no holds barred, Jada reveals her unconventional upbringing in Baltimore – from the child of two addicts to a promising theatre student and a violent interlude as a petty drug dealer – followed by a parallel rise to stardom alongside her close friend 2Pac, then falling in love with and marrying Will Smith, and a joyous embrace of motherhood. In crisis at age 40, Jada recounts the excruciating choices she was forced to make to redefine her life in every way. At the heart of this powerful book are two unexpected love stories, one being Jada’s complicated marriage to Will Smith, the other being the one with herself.”
This isn't the first time that Jada Pinkett Smith has written a book. In 2004, she penned a poem in the photographic book 'Girls Hold Up This World' on the strength and beauty of young girls and women.
