Jack Wilshere wants Arsenal to secure summer move for Leeds United's Raphinha

Jack Wilshere has urged his former club Arsenal to sign Raphinha from Leeds United this summer. The Brazilian winger has been linked with a move to the Emirates after Barcelona were unable to meet the asking price set by the Whites.

The Gunners are understood to be hopeful of adding Raphinha to their attacking ranks as they prepare for the return of European football. Although, as of yet, they are yet to have held any formal talks with Leeds over his potential signing.

Speaking to TalkSPORT, Wilshere believes his fighting edge is exactly what Arsenal need this summer. He said: “For someone who's only been in England for two years, he's got a lot of experience.

“He came to England and just clicked straight away. He was in a relegation battle last year so he knows he's up for a fight. I think he'd be a good one for Arsenal. He'll be expensive, of course he will.”

A huge few months await Raphinha between now and the end of the year as he will be desperate to play a key role for Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar. Luckily for Leeds, there is no pressure on him to pursue a move in order to gain more international recognition.

All nine of his caps for the Selecao have come during his time at Elland Road and he started both of Brazil’s recent fixtures, against South Korea and Japan. Manager Tite clearly believes that, despite not playing for a team competing in European competition, the 26-year-old is more than good enough to feature regularly for his country.
