Jack Wilshere reveals what Mikel Arteta said in team talk after Arsenal lost to Man City

Jack Wilshere has opened up on Arsenal's chances of winning this season's Premier League title.

The north London outfit currently sit on top of the table, eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City going into the final ten games of the season - although the Citizens have a game in hand on their title rivals. Mikel Arteta's side were defeated by City last month, losing 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium before briefly relinquishing top spot to Pep Guardiola and co.

However, they have since won six league outings on the bounce, a run that was interrupted by the ongoing international break. Now, Wilshere has praised Arteta for the way he has handled the season by not looking too far ahead in terms of the fixture schedule.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Gunners Under-18s boss said: "We look good. We have to take watch game as it comes. I think the manager is really good at that, taking every game as it comes.

"We didn't want to go out of Europe but we are and that gives us more of a chance to focus on the Premier League. Yeah, and I'm excited we're in a good place, know it's going to be tough, this is the business end of the season if you like and yeah, it's down to us and we're in control."

Wilshere also lauded Arsenal's belief, revealing what Arteta told his players after the aforementioned loss to City. “Yeah, that’s massive [having belief],” he continued.

“I think you can see that. I think the manager is really good at putting belief into the players. I can’t remember the game that we lost, I think it was the City game – but I heard Mikel speaking after the City game saying ‘do you still believe?’ and he said he believes even more and it’s important that the players feel that and he’s really good at that.

“So, yeah – they’ll believe. Each game as it comes as I said, prepare each game, look at the opposition like we do and try to win every game.”
