Jack Whitehall takes unexpected swipe at BBC's The One Show while on This Morning

Jack Whitehall may have been on This Morning but things took an unexpected turn when he made an unexpected swipe at The One Show. The comedian was on the ITV daytime show on Wednesday (May 3) to chat about his upcoming tour.

Jack is preparing to hit the road later this month in his 'Settle Down' stand-up show but has been completing some warm-up gigs in preparation. While chatting to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, the 34-year-old was asked about changes in his life since his last live show.

"How good are you at adulting? You’ve moved in with Roxy [Horner, his model girlfriend], you have a dog,” co-host Phil asked. But not responding directly to the question, Jack replied: "Can I say one thing I’m really impressed about" indicating to the London-based ITV studio as he sat on This Morning's famous sofa.

"One of the traits I find I’m very impressed with as an adult, is my love of coasters," Jack explained. "And it’s nice to see, finally, a show that has coasters," he said while picking up a coaster from the table.

"I was at The One Show the other day, and the state of the table on The One Show,” he raged. "You would have thought it was a junkie's carpet," he quipped in a savage manner, followed by laughter from Phillip and Holly.

"And this..." he added before pointing to the show's table, "is spotless and that's what I like to see." He quipped: "Standards on This Morning," to which Holly replied: "I'm glad you noticed and appreciated this." Things then swiftly moved on before it was time to wrap up his appearance on the show.

Back during his last appearance on The One Show in November last year, Jack made an unexpected quip that led to host Ronan Keating clapping back. The BBC programme had been celebrating teaching heroes, teaming up with The Teaching Awards, and were also joined on the couch by the stars of the film Matilda The Musical Alisha Weir and Andrea Riseborough.

They also chatted to comedian Jack, the star of the school sitcom Bad Education, and when Ronan and co-host Alex Jones read out heart-warming messages from viewers about the teachers who have shaped their lives, Jack cut-in with the remark: "Can I just say, no matter what they teach us though, what we believe is true."

Boyzone star Ronan immediately picked up that the words were the lyrics from the boyband's 1998 number one hit No Matter What written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman. "Oh yeah," he clapped back. "Was that a bet?" he asked. And Jack grinned knowingly and pointed at the singer. Ronan asked, laughing: "Did you win the bet?" And as the show drew to a close and they thanked their guests, Ronan joked: "Thank you to Jack, kind of."
