Jack Ross NOT leaving Dundee United as exit rumours wide of the mark despite shaky start

Under pressure Jack Ross has NOT left Dundee United despite rumours on social media claiming otherwise.

Ross has endured a dire start to the season at Tannadice having only taken over from Tam Courts in the summer. Things started promisingly with a draw at Kilmarnock followed by a famous home win over AZ Alkmaar, but it's all gone haywire since with four straight defeats - including a 7-0 thrashing in Alkmaar and Saturday's 3-0 defeat to St Mirren.

With just one league point to their name after four games, discontent is already rumbling at Tannadice and rumours online emerged earlier claiming Ross had walked already. But Record Sport understands this is not the case, with a club source telling us it remains "business as usual" with Ross still in place and determined to turn things around. United are yet to pick up a domestic win this season having lost to Livingston, Hearts and St Mirren since their opening day trip to Rugby Park.

They conceded eight goals across those three games meaning they've already shipped 17 in just six competitive games this season. The players locked Ross out of a crisis meeting following their defeat to Saints on Saturday but Ross said it was good to see his squad being proactive.

He said after the game: “I speak to players a lot individually and as a group, but I knew they were going to have their own meeting. I was pleased to hear that because undoubtedly there will be players who feel more comfortable speaking when I’m not there.

"I get that. Sometimes there are subject matters they will speak about when the manager isn’t there.

“I like the fact they did that of their own volition because it shows an understanding that they’ve dipped in the last few games but also that they’re strong enough to do things to put it right. This is a new group with a few new faces and it’s a good group to come into."
