Jack Ross 'eyes up' Hibs transfer raid with Christian Doidge wanted at Dundee United

Jack Ross is eyeing up a raid on his former club for striker Christian Doidge, according to a report.

The new Dundee United boss worked with the hitman during his time in charge at Easter Road with the duo enjoying a good relationship. The 29-year-old endured a difficult campaign last term with his starts limited due to an Achilles issue but he's now fully fit and raring to go.

United officially unveiled Ross as Tam Courts' successor earlier this week with the new man at the helm playing catch up in the transfer market with the new season edging closer. The Tangerines also have a European adventure this term and enter the Europa Conference League at the third qualifying stage. The Dundee Courier report that the target man has been identified as a top summer target.

Hibs are reportedly willing to listen to offers with Lee Johnson putting his own stamp on his squad after replacing Shaun Maloney. Doidge is contracted until 2024.

The 29-year-old has featured over 100 times for the club since his arrival from Forest Green Rovers in a deal reported at the time to be in the excess of £250,000.

He's netted 33 times in all competitions but could now be set for a switch to the Hibees' Premiership rivals this summer.

Johnson has already brought in David Marshall, Nohan Kenneh, Rocky Bushiri, Lewis Miller, Jair Tavares, Momodou Bojang and Kyle McClelland this window.

Aiden McGeady looks set to be the next to arrive with the capital club hoping to get a deal over the line ahead of their pre-season warm-weather camp in Portugal.

Hibess No3 David Mitchell has left the club to join Partick Thistle while Paul McGinn has signed for Motherwell and Matt Macey netted the club a transfer fee from Luton Town.
