Jack P Shepherd delights fans - by dancing in his pants as he copies Tom Cruise in Risky Business

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has been keeping Instagram followers entertained in lockdown with his dance skills.

Not many fans would have been aware before that the Corrie favourite had some serious dance moves, but he's unleashed them while staying at home.

In his latest video Jack, who plays David Platt, pays homage to Hollywood legend Tom Cruise by copying his dance scene from the 1983 film Risky Business.

In the clip filmed by his girlfriend Hanni Treweek and shared on his Instagram Jack, 32, dances in white pants, a pink shirt and socks like in the iconic movie scene.

Jack explained: "Risky Business. Another cinematic dance, suggested by @sofacinemaclub shot by @ladyhanni89."

Jack, who hosts a film club podcast with his co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith called Sofa Cinema Club, dances and slides around his home Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger.

The actor, who has played troubled character David for 20 years, starts with his back to the camera before spinning around with a microphone.

He then grabs a poker from the fireplace and plays it like a guitar before jumping onto his coffee table.

The soap star then leaps onto his sofa and kicks his legs.

Co-star Sally Ann Matthews who plays Jenny Connor commented: "You nearly had my eye out there... x"

Michelle Keegan, who played David's ex Tina McIntyre on the street, posted crying with laughter emojis.

Colson, who plays Craig Tinker, told him: "Very good! But be careful with that Mic."

Andy Whyment who plays Kirk Sutherland cheered: "Yes Jack, love it."                 

One follower demanded: "Flashdance next!"

"Them pants were risky business," said another.

"You brighten the days," another fan told him.

And another said: "Haha I love these videos!"

Jack previously performed Hugh Grant's famous dance from the 2003 romantic comedy film Love Actually.

He dedicated the dance to the NHS who are working tirelessly on the frontline of the coronavirus crisis.

Jack has taken a trip down memory lane in lockdown by sharing some of his highlights of his time on the much-loved soap.

The actor, who joined the soap in 2000, shared some throwback photos of himself before he joined the show at the age of 12 on Instagram.

Since Corrie filming was called to a halt in March because of the virus, Jack has been spending time building Lego including a Batmobile.
