If you thought that all of the designer shakeups would slow down now that it's 2025, think again. Only 15 days into the new year and another fashion house is saying goodbye to its designer. Or, in this case, designers. Founders of Proenza Schouler Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez just revealed they're stepping down from their New York label.
We definitely didn't have this on our 2025 bingo card. Although the fact that Proenza Schouler isn't on the just-released preliminary New York Fashion Week Fall 2025 schedule is kind of a sign. The pair started the brand 22 years ago and built it into a New York Fashion Week staple. Which is pretty impressive when you think about it since the label was part of the duo's senior thesis at Parsons School of Design in New York City.
Why are they leaving? Well, it's a little vague. They stated that it was simply time for a change and are looking forward to whatever comes their way. There is some talk that they're going to be taking over another big fashion house, but we don't want to speculate.
McCollough and Hernandez will make it official January 31. No word yet on a successor, but the hunt for a new creative lead is underway.
