Jack Kehler has died at the age of 75 following complications of leukaemia.
The actor's death was confirmed by his son Eddie, who told Deadline his dad had died in hospital in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The star, who was a lifetime member of The Actors Studio, was best known for his role as the Dude's landlord in the hit film The Big Lebowski.
He also starred in a number of productions in a career which spanned four decades.
He guested on an array of popular television series, including Hill Street Blues, Hunter, Cagney & Lacey, and LA Law.
He also featured on the likes of ER, 24, NYPD Blue, Mad Men and Bones.
Jack played the recurring role of Harlan Wyndam-Matson in Amazon Studios’ The Man From High Castle and was most recently seen on Love, Victor where he played again played a landlord.
On the big screen, he had roles on movies such as Pineapple Express, Fever Pitch, Austin Powers: The Spy Who S**gged Me, The Last Boy Scout and Year of the Dragon.
He will perhaps best be remember for playing Marty on '90s classic The Big Lebowski. He played the stammering landlord of Jeff Bridges' character the Dude.
Although his appearance was extremely brief, the part has long lived on in the memories of the film's loyal fans.
Following the news of his death, fans took to social media to send messages of condolence while others shared his famous scene.
One user on Twitter wrote: "Thinking about watching The Big Lebowski in honor of Jack Kehler…
"R.I.P. dude…"
A second penned: "Sad to hear of Jack Kehler’s passing. Such a great character actor. I particularly loved him as “the inventor of Scrabble” in THE LAST BOY SCOUT."
Another added: "RIP to Jack Kehler, another wonderful character actor you always enjoyed seeing show up in a film."
As the comments flowed in, a fourth added: "Dam loved this guy n his movie's. Sleep well guy," while another said: "RIP Jack Kehler. We’ll miss you, friend."
Alongside his son Eddie, Jack is survived by daughter-in-law Mari-Anne and grandson Liam.
