Jack Harrison makes classy gesture as he raffles off Leeds United hat-trick shirt

You would imagine that Jack Harrison would be doing everything he could to keep hold of the shirt that he scored his first Premier League hat-trick in.

But that isn’t the case.

The Leeds United winger was the star of the show in the 3-2 win against West Ham at the weekend and he has magnanimously chosen to raffle off his shirt from the match.

Tickets are £10 each and Harrison confirmed that the proceeds will be donated to a very good cause, Yorkshire Cancer Research.

He revealed this brilliant gesture on his official Instagram account on Wednesday evening.

The caption read: “I am holding a raffle to give away my match-worn shirt that was used during our recent win over West Ham United.

“It was a special moment scoring my first Premier League hat-trick and I want to show my appreciation to the fans but also raise money for something I care very much about. The shirt will be signed and can be personalised for the winner.

“The funds raised will be donated to Yorkshire Cancer Research, the Official Charity Partner for Leeds United!

“It is a £10 donation on this JustGiving page for those who would like to enter the raffle and a winner will be selected on Monday 24th January 2022. Check my bio or story for the link!

“Thank you as always for your incredible support! #MOT #LeedsUnited”.

The raffle has already far exceeded the initial target of £1,000 and at the time of writing is closing in on £15,000. You can get your ticket here.

By choosing a raffle, it gives Leeds supporters of all ages and all backgrounds the chance to win the special one-of-a-kind shirt rather than making it a bidding war that is inaccessible to the vast majority.

Most players would, understandably, get the shirt framed and hung up somewhere in their house but it shows the character of Harrison to identify it as a great opportunity to raise funds for a fantastic cause.

With another five days to go, the total that will be raised will make a real difference for plenty of people in Yorkshire.

It is an excellent way for the 25-year-old to mark one of the biggest milestones of his career so far.
