Jack Grealish spent half-time of Man City win over Liverpool in toilet after feeling 'sick all morning'

Jack Grealish has revealed he was "in the toilet at half-time and felt sick all morning'" before helping his Manchester City side tear Liverpool apart on Saturday afternoon.

Mohamed Salah gave the Reds the lead in the first half at the Etihad Stadium before Grealish provided the assist for Julian Alvarez to equalise for City.

Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan scored in the second period to put Pep Guardiola's side in complete control before their England star rounded off the scoring.

City's 4-1 win meant they closed the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal, who then re-established their eight-point lead at the top with a 4-1 home victory of their own over Leeds United.

As for Liverpool, they have slipped to eighth and remain seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who will look to move further clear of their rivals with victory at Everton on Monday night.

The Reds took on a City side without top scorer Erling Haaland, but others stepped up, and in particular Grealish, who showed the kind of form that persuaded the defending champions to spend £100m on his services in the summer of 2021.

After rounding off the win, Grealish admitted he'd spent most of the morning feeling unwell. He said: "I was in the toilet (at half-time) and I felt sick all morning but I was buzzing in the end. I love football and I love playing, I love training, and when it’s going well and stuff like this there’s nothing better.

“I’m back to my normal self now, back to full fitness, I’m feeling confident, and scoring today and getting the assist is perfect.”
