Jack Grealish kept a promise he made to a young fan during England’s win over Iran at the World Cup in Qatar.
The Three Lions began their campaign with a convincing 6-2 victory over Iran in Doha on Monday afternoon. A Bukayo Saka brace was supported by goals from Jude Bellingham, Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Grealish.
The Manchester City forward came off the bench for Sterling midway through the second half, and didn’t take long to get on the scoresheet. After his goal, his celebration was in honour of a young fan he recently met.

Grealish met Finlay in a video that was published by the Premier League earlier this month, where he promised to do a celebration should he score at the World Cup. Finlay has cerebral palsy, a condition which Grealish’s sister Holly also has - and the 11-year-old has loved seeing how supportive Jack is with his sister.
After scoring his goal, Grealish broke into a dance and started spreading his arms before wiggling them around. It was the same celebration that he had promised Finlay he would do, who told the City star he sees him as his idol.
Finlay had written to Grealish telling him his story, who then returned the favour by meeting him. It was here where the Man City forward promised to do a celebration if he scored a goal at the World Cup for England.
“I just want to say a bit thank you for the letter that you wrote to me, it really touched me,’ Grealish told Finlay. “I’ll do a little celebration for you, alright?”
