Jack Grealish gives verdict on Man City signings Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez

Jack Grealish thinks Erling Haaland will be unstoppable when he is fully fit, despite the new signing missing Manchester City's first friendly of the summer against Club America.

Haaland was an unused substitute in Houston, meaning City fans will have to wait for his debut. Haaland tweeted after the game that he hopes to be fit for Saturday's friendly against Bayern Munich in Green Bay, while Pep Guardiola said the striker is being managed after a long season with Borussia Dortmund and Norway.

Speaking at the NRG Stadium after City beat Club America, Grealish lifted the lid on Haaland's start to life at the Etihad on and off the pitch, predicting that the Norwegian will be impossible to stop when he's fit.

"He is a great guy, a brilliant guy. The first day that I met him we took a car together and even after that ride I thought, 'what a guy'," Grealish said.

"He’s so down to earth and quite up front with the way he is. You get used to that. He’s looked good in training and once he reaches full fitness will be unstoppable. I can’t wait to play with him and I’m really looking forward to it."

After Grealish arrived for a British record £100m last summer, and attracted plenty of attention because of his fee, Haaland arrives at half the cost, but undoubtedly more expectation on his shoulders.

Offering Haaland some advice, Grealish said: "He actually said to me, 'I’m only half the price of you so I haven’t got the pressure!'

"Obviously it’s always going to be big expectations but nowadays you have to deal with it. I suppose if he misses a chance or whatever then people are always going to have something to say. I’ve had to get used to it myself."

And Grealish also offered an encouraging verdict on another new striker, Julian Alvarez, who impressed in his first run-out against Club America - comparing him to a Premier League great.

"Julian was brilliant too. He actually reminds me of Vardy, the way he presses, can finish and runs in behind," Grealish added.
