Jack Grealish admits he "was a bit hungover" with England after Man City treble party

Jack Grealish admits he reported up for England duty with a hangover.

But Grealish insisted he has no regrets about his partying because winning the Treble with Manchester City was the best “weekend of his life.”

Grealish was pictured on a three-day boozy bender before joining up with England with the rest of his City team mates.

England star Grealish, who came on as a substitute against North Macedonia after being left on the bench in Malta, said: “I kind of knew in the back of my head that I wouldn’t play on the Friday.

“But even so I come into camp on Tuesday night, I was a bit hungover but I wasn’t drunk or anything. I came into camp with the other guys, we slept then woke up and trained Wednesday.

“We trained Thursday and, like I said, in the back of my mind, I knew I wasn’t going to play on the Friday. Then the Saturday, I trained and trained well.

“It had been the best weekend of my life. From winning the Champions League which is something that I moved to Manchester City to do. I just enjoy myself, I'm living my dream of playing for the best club in the world in my opinion and we've just won that one: the Treble.

“Winning the Treble was probably in my wildest dreams, it’s not been done for 25 years or whatever. Even this season, you look at in the last international break in March and you are thinking ‘are we going to win a trophy this year?’‌

“We’ve never won the Champions League, we are second in the Premier League and the FA Cup is always difficult to win’ and then we come out and win all three.

“The Saturday from the game, being there with my family I was so emotional after it. For about two hours really I just couldn’t get over it. Even the Sunday, the Monday, what followed and spending it with family and friends, that group of players, that staff, it was the best weekend of my life, yeah.”

Grealish is adamant he was the only City star to let their hair down though, and has hit back at those criticising him after a marathon season either side of a winter World Cup.

He added: "I went and enjoyed myself and I wasn't the only one - I think a lot of the time you'll see everyone recording me, I could show you all this stuff other people where they were the same.

“Listen, we all enjoyed ourselves, other people enjoy themselves where the cameras weren't but that was just me enjoying myself, I'd had the most successful season of my life.

“It is now June 19, I came into training last year on the 13th of July. Years ago, you'd have a season for nine months.

“But I’ve just laid out a 12 month season. I've been into a World Cup, I've won three trophies and then I'm going to be back training now in four weeks or so why not enjoy myself?”
