Jack Fincham, the 33-year-old Love Island winner, has revealed the painful reasons behind his 2019 breakup with fellow reality star Dani Dyer, a year after their victory on the ITV2 show. In an emotional interview with The Sun, Jack disclosed how his battle with addiction—spanning drugs, alcohol, and gambling—was a major factor in the collapse of his relationship with Dani. Reflecting on this tumultuous period, Jack stated, “Drugs helped my relationship with Dani fail.”
He acknowledged the role his substance abuse played in his personal life, admitting that it led to him being “absent” and neglecting his responsibilities as a boyfriend. “I was absent, my priorities were wrong, I wasn’t a great boyfriend. I am determined to change my future,” Jack confessed, emphasizing his commitment to turning his life around.
Currently dating TOWIE star Chloe Brockett, Jack recently faced a life-threatening situation. Last summer, Chloe had to call an ambulance after Jack, overwhelmed by his gambling losses, attempted to harm himself while on holiday. Believing he had lost his “last penny,” Jack made an impulsive attempt to jump from a hotel balcony. “If I’d have dived at a different angle, I may not be here today. That is scary,” he reflected, noting the serious injuries he sustained when he landed awkwardly. “My ankle was purple and I couldn’t walk for weeks. When I saw how Liam Payne passed away, I realized it could have been me”, reports the Mirror.
Jack’s struggles with gambling have also been significant, with the reality star openly discussing his addiction. He recalled one particularly distressing incident where he lost £40,000 in a single day. “Sometimes I got up to £40,000 winnings, but the next day I’d have £2,000 left and think ‘s***’, I need to pay the rent,” Jack shared, revealing the chaotic nature of his gambling problem.
Beyond his battles, Jack has also faced legal issues. He recently served a six-week prison sentence after his Cane Corso dog attacked two individuals, injuring one. As part of his sentence, Jack was ordered to pay £3,580 in compensation, with £250 going to the victims. Following his release, Jack is set to pay the compensation in installments of £400 per month, as it was revealed he has “no savings.” His run-ins with the law include a previous charge for driving under the influence in 2021 and a 36-month driving ban in 2023 for drug driving and careless driving.
Despite these challenges, Jack’s openness about his struggles and his determination to move forward marks a pivotal moment in his journey toward recovery and personal growth.
