Sunderland ran out comfortable 3-0 winners of Rotherham United in Tony Mowbray's first game in charge.
The Black Cats were frustrated in the first half as chances came and went - but made their superiority tell in the second period.
Two goals from Ross Stewart and a Jack Clarke goal gave Mowbray a win on his first match in the Stadium of Light dugout on a night when the Black Cats showed their potential.

Here's how the Sunderland players rated.
Anthony Patterson - 8
Did not have much to do in the second half but made two fantastic saves in the first. Continues to look reliable between the sticks.
Luke O'Nien - 8
Battled well and kept Ogbonne quiet. Not afraid to get stuck in.
Danny Batth - 7
Cool, calm and collected at the back. Will be relieved the deadlock was broken moments after missing a sitter.
Dennis Cirkin - 6
Occasionally sloppy but improved in the second half. Decent enough.
Lynden Gooch - 8
Excellent throughout. Caused Shane Ferguson all sorts of problems and has the stamina to help offensively and defensively.
Jack Clarke - 9
Wow. What a performance. The best Sunderland display for quite some time. Tottenham Hotspur look silly to have let him go.
Dan Neil - 7
Neat and tidy in midfield.
Corry Evans - 7
Did the dirty work in midfield well. Nothing flashy but acts as a good foil for Neil.
Alex Pritchard - 8
Technically, very impressive at Championship level. Always looking to play a forward pass and makes creates a lot for the front two.
Ellis Simms - 7
Ran his socks off and was unlucky not to score. Another solid shift for the former Everton man.
Ross Stewart - 9
Wasteful in the first half but proved his worth in the second. The "Loch Ness Drogba" is instrumental to Sunderland's hopes this season.
SUBSTITUTES
Patrick Roberts - 6
Could add another dynamic to this side with more game time.
