Jack Catterall Next Fight: 'El Gato' Faces Arnold Barboza Jr Next

Jack Catterall’s next fight sees the English boxing star aim for world honours in 2025. After ending 2024 on a high with a unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis, ‘El Gato’ firmly has his sights set on winning world titles in the super-lightweight division.

Jack Catterall Next Fight: When Is ‘El Gato’ Back In Action?

Jack Catterall was back in action last October, where he defeated former two-time world champion Regis Prograis in his latest fight at super-lightweight. The Chorley man overcame a knockdown to win the bout in Manchester, in a fight that he was the favourite with the best UK betting apps to be victorious in.

Now that the Prograis fight is said and done, it looks like all roads lead to a world title shot in 2025 for the 31-year-old. That is of course if he wins his next fight, which has been announced for Saturday, February 15.

The Jack Catterall next fight sees the British super-lightweight fighter take on unbeaten American Arnold Barboza Jr in Manchester. This is a fight that the best boxing betting sites are favouring ‘El Gato’ to win, but Barboza himself is undefeated and will certainly fancy his chances against Catterall.

Barboza is currently 31-0, coming in off the back of his best win over Jose Ramirez. However, he was handed a gift decision two fights ago against Ireland’s Sean McComb, a fight that he should have lost. That being said, he will provide a big test for Jack Catterall’s next fight.

With that being said, Catterall could argue he is the best 140-pound fighter in the world right now. World title shots are a must for the Chorley man this year, who would have a strong chance of being victorious against any of the champions.

If His Excellency Turki Alalshikh continues with his heavy involvement in boxing, Jack Catterall could be a name to feature on the Riyadh Season cards going forward. With Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing working alongside the Saudis regularly, this is a real possibility.

Huge blockbuster fights could be on the horizon at 140-pounds for ‘El Gato’ going forward.

Will Jack Catterall’s Next Fight After Barboza Jr Be For A World Title?

Jack Catterall will almost certainly get another shot at world honours in his next fight in 2025, provided he gets past Arnold Barboza Jr on February 15.

Ultimately ‘El Gato’ should have been undisputed world super-lightweight champion already, but he wasn’t given the rub of the green against Josh Taylor back in their first fight.

Should he beat Barboza Jr, Catterall simply cannot be denied a shot at world honours. There are currently four different belt holders at super-lightweight, all of which are fighters Catterall will have his sights set on now.

Devin Haney still holds the WBC crown, Richardson Hitchins is the IBF champion, Jose Valenzuela has the WBA strap and Teofimo Lopez is the WBO & Ring Magazine king. Catterall has admitted that he wants to face any of these champions in his next fight.

I looks like 2025 could be the biggest of Catterall’s boxing career yet. Of all of the current world champions who hold a belt at 140-pounds, it seems the fight that makes sense will be for the IBF Title that Richardson Hitchins currently holds.

The Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney fights are super-fights, but they seem more unlikely. Jose Valenzuela, the other world champion, will likely rematch with Isaac Cruz next.

Time will tell who Jack Catterall’s next fight is against after his super-lightweight clash with Arnold Barboza Jr. Fingers crossed ‘El Gato’ finally wins that elusive world title in 2025 for the fighting pride of Chorley.
