Jack Butland teases Rangers transfer speculation with one-word response

Jack Butland has remained coy on his future when asked to address his links with Rangers.

The goalkeeper, who is on loan at Manchester United from Crystal Palace, has been heavily touted for a move to Ibrox this summer.

Michael Beale is keen to sign the ex-England No.1 as part of his first-team rebuild in the coming months.

He has barely featured in the last three seasons and is believed to be committed to gaining regular action next term. So, a move north of the border appeals.

Man United are keen to sign Butland for free when his deal at Palace expires this summer, but this would only be to serve as a back-up to David De Gea.

Ultimately, it will come down to whether Butland chooses to become a first-choice keeper again, or money to stay in the Premier League.

However, he has responded to the links with Rangers.

The 30-year-old greeted supporters outside of Old Trafford last night as United thumped Chelsea 4-1.

And one fan appeared to catch him off guard as he signed autographs and took pics with the punters.

In a video circulated online, a supporter could be heard asking him: “Are you going to Rangers?”

Butland responded: “Pardon?” Then when the fan again asks “Rangers?” He replied: “Maybe.”

Beale admitted that a deal wasn't close when directly asked about Butland earlier this week.

Butland is yet to make an appearance for United, but could well feature in Sunday's final league game of the season against Fulham with Champions League qualification already secured.
